About SSI and PADI
SSI
(Scuba Schools International) and
PADI (Professional Association of
Diving Instructors) are both diving
schools that issue certification
to different levels of divers as
well as dive instructors.
Both
schools offer internationally recognised
diving licenses that allow divers
certified under them to dive anywhere
in the world.
Divers
certified under PADI or SSI can
easily cross over between one another;
for example a PADI Open Water Diver
can train as an SSI Advanced Open
Water Diver and vice-vesa.
More
on SSI
SSI
is the first diving school in the
world to introduce the home study
program, as well as diver rewards
for experience.
As
diving is a sport that requires
both experience and knowledge, SSI
certification has an additional
passing requirement that include
a minimum number of dives, therefore
ensuring that divers who are certified
have both the experience and knowledge
required.
More
on PADI
PADI
is one of the largest scuba diving
certification agencies in the world.
PADI develops scuba programs, diver
training products and monitors scuba
training conducted by PADI Professionals
worldwide.
Since
its inception in 1966 PADI has grown
to have members in more than 175
countries and territories and international
service offices in nine countries.
